ABOUT ME:

I'm a lifelong resident of beautiful Portland, Oregon. I began designing pages at age six, making little booklets patterned after my brother's high school yearbooks.

After graduating with a BA in Communications, and taking a career detour or two, I began a fun and rewarding career as a freelance graphic designer.

I have a deep belief in the power of personal photography to enrich life and increase joy. I also love modern design ... thus my Design Studio was born.

I am an incurable optimist with the belief that everything in our lives works together for our ultimate good.

I am crazy about my family, reading, dogs, road trips, the natural world, fashion bargains, and smokehouse almonds.

Screamin' deals on Photoshop Elements—less than 50 bucks!

It’s a GREAT TIME to invest in Adobe Photoshop Elements! Probably thanks to the sluggish economy, several retailers have dropped prices since my last Price Post in January. Here are today’s prices*, from lowest to highest, including screamin’ deals (for PC users) from Staples, and a bundled deal from Buy.com:

Staples.com:

PC: $49.99, after two Staples discounts and a $20 mail-in rebate; eligible for free shipping. Boxed only, no downloads, check website for in-store availability.

Mac: $79.99, after a $20 mail-in rebate; eligible for free shipping. Boxed only, no downloads, check website for in-store availability.

Buy.com:

PC: $49.00; eligible for free shipping. Boxed only, no download. This OEM version comes bundled with 60 sheets of HP Photo Paper and a 4-in-1 memory card reader. NOTE: OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) versions mean that this software is not in retailer packaging and was intended to be bundled with other products. Reading the Buy.com information, I couldn’t tell whether this is a version with limited functions, or limited uses. Questions about its use and whether it comes with a manual went unanswered. If you intend to buy it, I would advise you track down those answers first.

Amazon.com:

PC: $49.99, after a $20 mail-in rebate, eligible for free shipping. Boxed only, no downloads.

Mac, $68.49, after a $20 mail-in rebate, eligible for free shipping. Boxed only, no downloads.

Amazon resellers price new Photoshop Elements 8.0 down to $79.98, but without a rebate, and with shipping extra (average $3.99). Older versions (pre-8.0), which you can still use for digital scrapbooking, go down to $55.00 plus shipping.

Adobe.com:

PC and Mac: $79.00 after a $20 mail-in rebate. Option for immediate download or for boxed disks (shipping extra for boxed disks). Still running the 30-day free trial for both PC and Mac.

Fry's.com:

PC and Mac: $79.99, after a $20 mail-in rebate, eligible for free shipping. Boxed only, no downloads, check website for in-store availability.

Costco.com: $84.99, no rebate mentioned.

OfficeDepot.com: $99.99, no rebate mentioned.

I'll keep my eye on the market and update pricing at least monthly. Let me know if you see a screamin' deal anywhere!

*NOTE: I research these prices and do my best to verify them, but I make no guarantees about product availability or pricing. Buyers will be responsible for verifying product pricing before purchase.
